Prostate Cancer

An estimated 217,730 men will be diagnosed with the disease in 2010. It is estimated that 32,050 deaths from this disease will occur this year.

Prostate cancer runs a second to skin malignancy incidence in men and, except for lung cancer, is attributed to more deaths than any other cancer. It is estimated that about 1 out of 6 men will be diagnosed with this disease during his lifetime, and only 1 man in 34 will die of it.

One of our heroes, Laurie Codding

Laurie Codding proudly says that she was Florida’s first female plumbing contractor in the 1980s.

The 53-year-old former Bradenton resident — she lived off Cortez Road in the 1990s and now lives in Venice — says being a plumber with all its bending, lifting and stretching made her so strong and healthy that people would ask her what gymnasium she worked out in.

There are a lot of breast cancer events out there, but I’m walking and fundraising for the American Cancer Society because they are the leader in the fight to end breast cancer – doing the most in every community to help women with breast cancer today and working tirelessly to find cures to end the disease tomorrow.
